Using learning types to support course design - ABC curriculum design

Several universities including Lund have tested the ABC model. This model has been tested by a team at University College London who have written about the model and provided materials for teachers wanting to test the model themselves:

"The ABC curriculum design method is a ninety-minute hands-on workshop for module (and programme) teams. This rapid-design method starts with your normal module (programme) documentation and will help you create a visual ‘storyboard’. A storyboard lays out the type and sequence learning activities required to meet the module’s learning outcomes and how these will be assessed. ABC is particularly useful for new programmes or those changing to an online or a more blended format."

Diana Laurillard is Professor of Learning vid Digital Technologies, London Knowledge Lab, UCL Institute of Education. Her model "Conversational Framework" helps to analyse and categorize educational technologies in the classroom. At UCL two teachers, Clive Young and Nataša Perovic, have developed the ABC curriculum design workshop for faculty teams whereby the teams work with a storyboard of learning activities colour coded according to the learning types in Diana Laurillard's Conversational Framework.
