Students cannot upload work into the folders shown in the files view in the course. If every students should be able to read every other student's work, there are two ways you could do it as a teacher. They are both very fast and simple - each can be done in less than a minute.

Tip! If students should give feedback on each other's work, the Peer review tool is a much better choice.

Allow students to share files via a discussion

The standard setting in Canvas is to not allow students to share files via discussions, but it is a setting you can change.

Give students the ability to share files via discussions

Click on Discussions in the course menu
Click on the cog at the top-right of the screen.
Check the box which allows students to share files in discussions. Save the settings.

Pinning a discussion at the top

If you make a specific discussion thread for students to share their work in, it's a good idea to move this to "Pinned discussions" at the top. That way it is easier for the students to find.

Let students share files via a group

Inside groups all members can share files. If you make a single group with all students in, and call this group something like "Share your texts here", the students will be able to use this group space to find each other's work.

Create a Group set for sharing files between all course members

Click on People in the course menu
Click on the +Group set button
Name the group set
Make one big group, when you click on Save, a group will be created with all the students in.

Edit group name

The name of the group will end up being the name of the Group set, with the number '1' added on the end. You can edit the name of the group by clicking on the three dots to the right-hand side of the group's name.

Remember to tell the students which method your course uses

Because there is more than one method of allowing students to see each other's work, it is important to specify which one they should use.
