The video above shows the groups feature in Canvas and how to join a group which is open for sign up. Please note that standard settings at Karolinska institutet don’t allow students to start their own groups. Teachers can start groups open for sign up.

Groups in your course

Via the People menu in the course you can see which groups are available to you and visit the group areas that you are a member of.

Go to the People menu and click on the Groups tab.

Groups that you are already a member of can be visited by clicking on Visit.
For groups with the option of self-sign up you will see the Join button.
For a group with self-sign up that you can switch to you click on Switch to.
For a group that you want to leave click Leave.

All your groups, for all your courses can be accessed via the Global menu Groups. Sometimes it is difficult to see which group belongs to which course. If you go to All groups you will see the groups listed with the course name to the right.
