Who can download the video from Kaltura My Media or KI Play

Only those people who own a video can download it from My Media in Canvas or KI Play and subsequently publish the video in your Studio library. You can then post it to your course or share it with a colleague.

IF you do not own the video, but have permission to download it from the person who owns/owned the video, you can: use the form to contact UoL to get help to become the new owner.

In this video (5:28min), Carina Bois shows you how to download a video from Kaltura (KI Play or Canvas My Media). She also shows you how to download the existing srt-file. Then she shows how to upload the video to Canvas Studio and how to replace the automatically created captions with the srt-file you downloaded from Kaltura.

How do you download the video?

You download it in two steps.

Go to the video you want to download (that you own) via Canvas My Media. Select Edit and then you will see the option Downloads (1). Check the Source file (2) and Save.

Next, click on the Go to Media link. Now the video opens in the player. Click on Download (1) and then the download icon (2):
Save this file in the appropriate location so you can find it in the next step.

Upload the video to Studio

Upload your video now to the Studio library. See M2.1 Add existing media to Canvas Studio

If you have already reviewed the subtitles of the video, you should also make sure to save the so-called srt file via Captions and the download icon (see video on the next page):
