Recording a video using the Canvas app

Observe: Recording through the Canvas app will depend on the device and browser you are using. Just like in the Chrome and Edge browsers (which have more recording capabilities than Safari and Firefox), these features vary depending on whether you're using an Android device or an iPhone.

To ensure you have access to the latest features:

Make sure you're using the latest version of the Canvas app.

✔ Make sure that your device and its operating system are compatible with the recording feature in Canvas Studio.

Recording options in Canvas Studio

iPhone (iOS)

If you're using an iPhone and want to create a video through Canvas Studio, this is what you can do:

Upload from device – Select an already recorded video from your camera roll or files.
External link - Insert a link to a video from another source, such as YouTube.

NB! It is not currently possible to record directly through Studio in the Canvas app on iPhone. If you need to make a new recording, use the camera on your device and then upload the video in Studio.

Android

If you're using an Android device, there are a few more recording options:

Upload from device – Select an already recorded video from your device.
External link - Insert a link to a video from another platform.
Create webcam image (i.e., webcam recording) – Record a video directly through the app using your device's camera.

Android devices allow you to record directly in Canva Studio without having to use a separate camera app.
