Get familiar with Canvas

It’s always a good idea to pause and familiarise yourself with your surroundings when you enter a new learning space – especially if you are new to Canvas. We assume you are consulting this platform using a laptop or desktop computer. If you are using the Canvas app, however, the menus will not be in the same place and the layout will be different, so please be aware of this - the app does not allow you to have the full functionalities as you would on a laptop/desktop.

Take some time to browse the course content, assignments, course resources and modules by using the main menu on the left. You can also look at the general Canvas functionalities in the purple menu on the far left, where you will also find the very useful help function.

Progression of the course

As your learning needs might be different to those of others on the course, a flexible approach has been taken in its design. This enables you to tailor your learning to suit your available time and requirements. Bear in mind that each module will take you about 1 hour to go through, but that you can stop and start at any time.

The content is laid out as a progression, all modules, videos, and activities have to follow the order in which they appear. Each task has to be submitted with correct answers - once you have gone through the entire module, you will be able to obtain a certificate.

Certification of your course

All KI Staff are encouraged to take Module 1. After completing all requirements for the module, you will be able to access a completion certificate which you find in a separate module called "Get your certificate here" after Module 1.

The Module 2 course targets PhD students and teachers, however other KI staff who would be interested to gain deeper knowledge on SDGs are most welcome to complete it. After completing all requirements for this module, you will also be able to access a completion certificate which you find in a separate module called "Get your certificate here" after Module 2.
