5.7 Links in PowerPoint
- Each link needs to have a hypertext (the text the student sees) that clearly says where the link will take you.
- This is particularly important for people who rely on screen readers.
- Screen readers can navigate form link to link. Each link needs to be unique and clear. It this is not the case then the screen reader cannot distinguish which link is which.
- Therefore we need to add hypertext that creates meaning in the specific context.
Create links in PowerPoint
Mark the text where you would like to add a link in PowerPoint
- Write clearly where the link leads to rather than just adding the url.
- Writing "click here", "more", " click here for more information" can be ambiguous or unclear if taken out of context. Avoid this!
- Choose the tab Instert and then link.
Insert link address (URL) in PowerPoint
- The text you have marked can be seen in the field "Text to display". It is possible to edit the text in this field.
- Copy the link address (the URL) and paste it into the address field.
